Concrete structures can degrade over time from damaging operating conditions or aggressive environmental exposure. The resulting cracking, spalling, or cross-sectional loss pose integrity issues to structures. Restoring the facility is typically faster and more economical than replacing the infrastructure. Advanced concepts include utilizing ultra high pressure waterjetting equipment and ergonomic positioning devices helps minimize unnecessary damage to substrates while providing the best safety and ergonomic techniques for technicians. Applying a fast cure micaceous iron oxide and zinc-filled primers to exposed rebar to prevent future corrosion. Working a scrub coat into the substrate before applying resurfacing mortars enhances adhesion and durability of the entire repair system. Application of resurfacing mortars using peristaltic or squeeze pumps, thick-film/mortar pumps, and rotar stator pumps followed by applying protective lining systems using plural component equipment ensures reduced material waste, improved quality and consistency. Asset preservation and service life extension are critical goals for municipal water and wastewater infrastructure. Utilizing an AMPP QP-8 certified contractor ensures that advanced methods in concrete surface preparation, restoration, and protective lining systems are executed to the highest industry standards. These advanced concepts safeguard long-term performance, maximize investment, reduce lifecycle costs, and ensure safe, reliable service for years to come.
