The goal of this presentation will be to compare and contrast common and unique corrosion issues and coatings solutions across the different branches of the military representing Sea, Air and Land applications. All have unique challenges, but all also face one inevitable reality that corrosion control and prevention is one of their number one maintenance expenses. This presentation will share that information by sector and the focus on reducing this expense as well as most notable culprits and know and pending solutions as represented by the paint coatings sector. While the focus will be on proper preparation or remediation practices and coatings systems that have been developed to prevent or rectify these situations, we will also work to interject new substrate i.e. composite replacement of traditional metal alloys to help eliminate these problems, and the subsequent new challenges that these impose regarding such things as coatings adhesion etc.
