Understanding solar-specific corrosion threats is still relately new when compared to corrosion threats in other industries, with corrosion specialists, corrosion engineers, and other structural profesionals tasked with designing solar facilities with ever increasing lifespans. Solar panals at these facilites are often composed of steel piles driven into soil, creating corrosion threats unique to the solar industry. Understanding newer corrosion threats and increasing design lifespans create uncertainies related to the design of these facilities which need to be applied during the design phase. However, improved understanding of steel-piles-driven-into-soil may decrease some of the uncertainties related these corrosion threats at solar facilities.
