Miraah is the largest in the world solar steam generating plant located in Amal field. Miraah consist of mirrors that direct and concentrate the sun rays on a tube running over the mirrors due to this the temperature of the tubes increases significantly. Water flows through these hot tubes and get converted to steam. The are many reasons to clean and inspect Miraah tube However, normal tubes cleaning and inspection job couldn’t be done because of a major issue faced in the tubes. Therefore, a new smaller tool was designed, customized, and verified by PDO which was first of its kind in the world. In August 2022, a trail to test this new tool was conducted on Miraah block 4. The trail was successful, and several learnings were obtained from the trails. All the learnings obtained from the trails has been implemented which helped carry out full cleaning of Miraah on January 2024. The aim of this presentation is to present the design and operation of Miraah and the challenges, learnings, findings and outcome of the cleaning and inspection of Miraah tubes.
