Dr. Sigrún Nanna Karlsdóttir is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Iceland. She earned her B.S. in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from University of Iceland and a MSc. and Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from University of Michigan. Her research focuses on corrosion and material research for renewable energy applications, especially geothermal energy. She has published 40+ papers, secured funding from international and national grants program as well as from energy-sector, and advised companies on corrosion and material selection. She has served on the board of the Geothermal Association of Iceland and as chair/co-chair of previous Geothermal NACE/AMPP symposium sessions. She co-founded Álvit ehf. and Gerosion ehf., where she is the COB.
