Dr. Santigopal Samanta is a materials researcher with interests in physical metallurgy, phase transformations, hydrogen embrittlement, and steel grade design, among others. He has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Colorado School of Mines since May 2024. He has 10 years of experience in the R&D function of Tata Steel Ltd., India, as a product development researcher. Both his PhD and postdoctoral work are on the prevention of hydrogen embrittlement in line pipe steels for H2 gas transportation. He has 19 published research articles in peer-reviewed international journals with eight granted patents (along with 11 more patent applications).
