Ohio University
Irem earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Sabancı University in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2019. After graduating, she joined the Fontana Corrosion Center as a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Gerald S. Frankel, where her research focused on the atmospheric corrosion of AA2024-T3 and low-carbon steel. She completed her PhD in December 2024 and subsequently joined the Infrastructure Materials Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology as a guest researcher. Her current research focuses on rebar corrosion in concrete.
