The accelerating deployment of Carbon Capture, Transportation, and Storage (CCTS) technologies demands robust strategies for asset mechanical integrity management to ensure long-term operational viability and environmental stewardship. This presentation will critically examine the evolving landscape of CCTS, with a focus on materials performance, corrosion control, and sustainability. Key discussions will center on risk and threat assessment (i.e., corrosion and degradation mechanisms encountered in CO₂-rich environments—including gas, dense phase, and supercritical states—highlighting the pivotal role of impurities such as SOX, NOX, H₂S, and water in influencing corrosion rates and pathways), barriers and process control, corrosion and barrier effectiveness monitoring, performance management and verification and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
