Dr. Hansen is a Distinguished Research Scientist at the University of Dayton Research Institute and Professor (Joint Appointment), in the Chemical and Materials Engineering Department at the University of Dayton. He has more than 30 years of experience in the field of protein biochemistry and corrosion electrochemistry, primarily in the development of environmentally friendly coatings and corrosion inhibitors. His research has been focused on the development of environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitors; numerous electrochemical and materials characterization techniques such as the scanning Kelvin probe and scanning vibrating probe systems; accelerated atmospheric corrosion chemistry testing and biomaterials and biomedical corrosion.
