Although corrosion studies have been conducted for decades, recent advancements in monitoring and inspection technologies have significantly enhanced the industry’s ability to detect and mitigate corrosion. These advancements have extended asset service life and reduced maintenance costs through data-driven strategies. Through a comprehensive review of both historical practices and modern developments, this paper explores the evolution of corrosion monitoring methods for ductile iron pipe and examines how theses advancements have influenced industry recommendations across diverse environmental conditions.
