Various VpCI/VCI technologies exist and are selected based on the situational and environmental needs. For example, large asset preservation of pipelines, tanks, modules, turbines, and boilers is often achieved with corrosion-inhibiting fogging fluids. However, evaluation of fogging fluids in the laboratory relies on the NACE VIA TM 0208-2024 testing which is best suited for evaluation of packaging materials. Effective evaluation of the effectiveness of different technologies and applications can be achieved when field conditions are mimicked in the laboratory. The NACE VIA TM 0208-2024 can be further improved by removing the subjective grading and replacing it with quantitative imaging of the tested surfaces. This new method of evaluation allows for improved evaluation and precise performance measurements of the VpCI/VCI technologies.
